Aloha, ハイサイ (haisai), & こんにちは (konnichiwa)!

「Ono」 is the Hawaiian word for 「delicious」; my goal is to try many delicious foods in Okinawa and the rest of Japan, to explore the many small local places hidden away. Ono is おいしい “oishii” in Japanese and まーさん “maasan” in Okinawan language.

This is a very informal blog about random food, cafes/restaurants, culture, traditions, and travel that I encounter while living and studying in Okinawa as a foreign student. I try to continuously update pages and information as I come across it or as I have time. Sometimes I include well-known places, while sometimes I only write about the small local places that are harder to find. I also try to include information on a lot of local Okinawan and traditional Ryukyuan food. I am not much of a cook (so I don’t include a lot of recipes), but I love eating and learning about food. If there is anything you cannot find an answer to or want more info on, simply click on the contact page and send a message.
